July 26, 2024: The Orchard Drive drainage project is complete.
The City of Fairfax Public Works Department will soon begin work on the Orchard Drive drainage improvement project. This project will install approximately 240 feet of additional curb and gutter on Orchard Drive north of Wildwood Street.
The new curb and gutter will direct stormwater runoff from the street away from private properties and toward the storm drain. Extending the curb and gutter will reduce the runoff impacts on private properties during intense rain events. The section of the asphalt trail in the project area will be replaced with a concrete sidewalk.
The city will work with Utilities Unlimited for this project. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2024 and last approximately four weeks. Work may be postponed due to inclement weather.
