About the Projects
These projects include construction of sidewalks and curb and gutter on the north side of First Street between Hallman Street and Oak Street, on the south side of Second Street between Walnut Street and Oak Street, and on the west side of Oak Street between Main Street an Willow Terrace. Sidewalks will improve pedestrian safety. Curb and gutter will contain stormwater runoff to the roadway and prevent it from flowing onto private property.
The Oak Street project was included in the city’s FY2022-23 Two-Year Transportation Program, adopted by the city council on June 22, 2021. The council then endorsed the application for state revenue sharing funding for Oak Street on September 28, 2021.
The First and Second Street project was included in the city’s FY2024-25 Two-Year Transportation Program, adopted by the council on June 13, 2023, and the council endorsed the funding application on September 12, 2023.
Funding became available and design was initiated for both projects in FY 2026. Construction is anticipated in 2028-2029.
