Public Sector Buildings
The draft green building policy applies to existing public buildings 1,000 square feet or greater, new construction projects that are 5,000 square feet or greater, and major renovations (see page 5).
Do you think these size requirements are appropriate?
Please note that for public buildings, Virginia Law requires buildings 5,000 gross square feet in size, or the renovation of a building where the cost of the renovation exceeds 50% of the value of the building shall meet green building standards outlined in § 2.2-1183(External link).
