Public Meeting #4 (past)
The city is developing its first-ever Urban Forest Master Plan, a plan that will guide management of Fairfax’s urban forest over the next 20 years. The urban forest includes all of the trees, vegetation, and associated ecosystems within the city, including trees on public and private land.
We invite you to learn about the draft Urban Forest Master Plan at the fourth and final public meeting on Thursday, October 23, from 6-8 p.m., at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center (3740 Blenheim Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030). There will be a virtual attendance option for this meeting via Zoom.
Public Meeting #4 will take place during the public review period for the draft Urban Forest Master Plan, from October 10 to October 29.

Final Public Comment Period (past)
From October 10 through October 29, the draft Urban Forest Master Plan will be posted to the Engage page for public review and comment.
We welcome your feedback on the draft to help ensure it reflects the community’s priorities for Fairfax’s urban forest.
Please let us know if the draft addresses your concerns and aspirations, and share any other comments or questions you may have about its content.
Throughout November and December, the project team will review and address the comments. In January, the final Urban Forest Master Plan will be presented to the Planning Commission and City Council.
Environmental Sustainability Committee (past)
The Urban Forest Manager will be providing an update on the Urban Forest Master Plan at the September meeting of the city's Environmental Sustainability Committee.
The meeting will take place on September 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Work Session Room (10455 Armstrong St).
Fall Festival (past)
Join the project team at the city's annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 11, 2025, in historic Old Town Fairfax. City staff will be available to answer questions, share informational materials, and collect feedback on the Urban Forest Master Plan.
Public Meeting #3 (past)
Fairfax City is developing the city’s first urban forest master plan – and we need your help! The plan will address growing challenges and threats to the urban forest over the next 20 years, such as increasing development, climate change, and invasive species.
This open house session will provide time for attendees to browse six stations with proposed recommendations and strategies for implementation of the Urban Forest Master Plan. As they browse the stations, attendees can vote on their top priorities to provide feedback to the project team. There will also be a brief presentation at the beginning to update attendees on the plan's progress and provide next steps, and a wrap-up discussion at the end to answer questions and respond to comments.

The stations will also include interactive mapping and voting activities. The meetings will wrap up with a summary of takeaways from the stations.
