The project has been completed!

UPDATE - April 1, 2021:

The drainage improvement project is substantially complete, and ahead of schedule. No Parking restrictions on Forest Ave have been lifted. Final review of the project with the contractor has been scheduled for mid-April. Our preliminary review of the project indicates that all work has been completed according to the approved plans.

Forest Ave was previously scheduled for repaving; however, that work was deferred to allow for the drainage improvement project to be completed first. Now that the project is done, we have been able to schedule repaving work. Over the next few weeks, the city’s concrete contractor will replace older concrete curb/gutter, sidewalk, and driveway aprons on Forest Ave. This work will be followed by street repaving this summer. Residents will receive more specific notifications before the work occurs.

Project

The goal of the project is to increase storm pipe capacity and reduce flooding in the roadway during heavy storms. This project will replace the undersized storm drainage system in the project area. Approximately 500 feet of storm pipe and five storm structures will be installed. The upgraded storm sewers will be able to handle a higher volume of water during intense rain events.

The increased capacity will reduce roadway flooding and the impacts of runoff to private properties. The project includes installing a new sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway aprons in the project area on the north side of Forest Avenue and the west side of Roberts Road.

The project is scheduled to begin in December and is estimated to be completed next summer. Street parking on the north side of Forest Avenue will be unavailable for the duration of the project. Sections of sidewalk in the project area will be closed. Work which impacts access to driveway entrances will be coordinated with property owners. Thank you for your patience.

This project is part of Public Works’ Neighborhood Drainage Projects program, which is supported by the Storm Fund.
