Thank you for your question. This is a good opportunity to clarify how these figures are presented in the budget. For the City Manager, the amounts shown in the budget are not the salary of a single individual. The city manager’s annual salary is $285,000, which is published in the Employee Classification Plans under Classification Plan – General Full-Time, Non-Classified Personnel. The figures you are referencing in the budget reflect the entire City Manager’s Office, which includes six total positions, along with associated personnel costs.

For the City Attorney, the city does not employ an in-house attorney at a fixed salary. Instead, legal services are contracted, and total costs vary based on actual services provided during the year. The budgeted amounts you see include a range of legal services, including:

    •            General legal counsel

    •            City prosecutor services

    •            Litigation-related expenses

These costs also reflect support from not only the city attorney but additional staff within the contracted firm who assist the city. Additionally, the city contracts separately with prosecutors to support court-related cases.
