The City is in the process of developing and implementing Small Area Plans for the five Activity Centers defined in the 2035 Comprehensive Plan: Old Town Fairfax, Northfax, Pickett & Main, Fairfax Circle, and Kamp Washington. Small Area Plans provide specific guidance for the desired mix of uses, residential density, building density, design aesthetic, street locations, multimodal connections, infrastructure improvements, parking, and open space. In June 2020, Council approved the Small Area Plans for Old Town Fairfax and Northfax.

City Council recently approved funding for the development of a third Small Area Plan for Kamp Washington, located in the west end of the city around the intersections of Fairfax Boulevard, Lee Highway, and Jermantown Road. Kamp Washington has the potential to become an exciting mixed-use destination, and we are eager to engage with residents to hear their ideas throughout a public planning process.

Residents, business owners, and other interested parties are encouraged to share ideas using the engagement tools below. Also, be sure to subscribe to the Kamp Washington Small Area Plan page (click "Subscribe" to the right) for updates on this project and information on public discussions and live events. All ideas are welcome and will be considered when developing the final report. Thank you for participating in this important planning process.
