Improved Circulation
This project would construct a new east-west roadway between the University Drive roundabout at the Point 50 shopping center and Chain Bridge Road. This connection is recommended in the Northfax Small Area Plan as a means to break up the large block and improve circulation for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Priority Project
This project is included in the city’s FY2024-25 Two-Year Transportation Program, adopted by City Council on June 13, 2023. The projects in the program are eligible for regional, state, and federal funding consideration over the next 2-10 years. The projects recommended in the program balance local and regional transportation needs, improve connectivity, and facilitate livability.

Funding
The City Council will be asked to endorse an application for regional funding from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority for this project at their Sept. 12 City Council meeting. Councilmembers will review feedback from the current outreach period when considering endorsement of the funding application. If the city is successful in receiving this funding, it would become available in 2028, with construction occurring 2031-2032.

Open House
The proposed plans for the connecting roadway will be presented at an open house from 5-7 p.m. on July 12 at Willowwood Plaza, located at 10300 Eaton Pl.
